I read this series the night before the movie came out. Yes, it’s taken me a while to try to come up with the words…but I can’t. I mean I have really tried to voice why this is such a disaster of a book, series, idea, but the more I try, the more I fail. Male lead? A lout, brutish stalker whose idea of sweet is to force the girl he likes to be at his side ALL. THE. TIME. And if she tries to have her own life, he follows her around and randomly shows up by tracking her phone. Female lead? Dull, idiotic, weak-willed, brainless twit whose head is turned by a pretty face.

I had a friend tell me that the reason why the male lead behaves as he does is revealed in the novels and when I read it…Nope. Doesn’t explain why he’s the overbearing douche that he is. Sorry but neither cases of what he went through at the age of four or when he was sixteen explains it. And then to take what happened when he was sixteen and the person he was with go through a COMPLETE and UTTER transformation just to prove the female lead correct? Bollocks to that! (Trying to not spoil anything so being a vague on purpose.)

So many people told me this was such a great erotic novel that I was rather excited to read it. I am so thoroughly disappointed and I have returned the novels even though I won’t get my money back. I do not recommend this to anyone, especially the highly impressionable.

Fifty Shades Trilogy Bundle Fifty Shades of Grey; Fifty Shades Darker; Fifty Shades Freed eBook E L James Reviews

I've read the books for the third time since there release. I purchased and read the first book one because I've always been an avid reader and am very eclectic in what I read. I was also intrigued by all the whispered comments I was hearing about the book containing BDSM which I was not too familiar with and many outspoken wanting the books banned. Book banning is a very strong opinion of mine. I believe that no one should have the right to tell me what I can read or sensor facts or fiction due to their opinions out of fear or authority. This book in its tutorial is a current cultural love story that has been sensationalized due to the BDSM introduction to the sexual awakening to not just one of the main characters Anastasia but also in the way of its introduction to Christian as an adolescent. Two innocents and learning that Christian knew no other way to physically express his emotions but when he is denied he seeks a new way to be with, fall and express 'love'. It has a great and strong story with a very sexual content which does not detract from the overall story. My mother as well as my sister ages from 68-43 have also read the books seen the movie premiere opening and discussed. We have also talked openly about our view and thoughts of the trilogy. I have recommended friends read the books and found also those that have not read the books and only listened to the hype do not know how to do anything but disagree and degrade the books as readable. I've always been taught and know from experience "Knowledge" is the true key to all things and the only way you can decide on anything good or bad is through knowing the facts. Love stories, romance and sex are a part of life...but are never nice little fairy tales without choices and obstacles that are apart of being with another person. I fell in love with the characters, the story and the ways they faced made mistakes that we have all made in learning to accept overcome and express their shared love to the other. I enjoyed all the books. Highly recommend the books for any adult 18 and over.
Meet Ana, a shy kind of introverted college senior who is basically living a life in the shadows. She is talked into doing an interview for the school newspaper for her sick roommate. Little did she know that the day of the interview would change her life forever. Ana comes face to face with beautiful millionaire Christian Grey.

After going down a road of sex, spanking and tears things seem to be headed in the right direction for the young "unique couple". Can the innocent Anastasia Steele handle the intense fifty shades... or will everything Ana hoped to be with Christian get flushed down the toilet?

Anastasia Steele is a young inexperienced assistant editor at SIP. She absolutely loves her job... but she is a broken young woman. She decided to leave Christian because she believes that she is not the right fit for his life style.

Christian turns out to be just as shattered as Ana. After an evening of consideration the two become a hot and heavy couple again. Through many fights and lots of makeup sex Tue two start to realize their love for one another. After accidents and ex lovers show up, will Ana and Christian ever get their happy ending? Or will they be torn apart again?

The story between the complicated relationship continues with Ana and Christian. They have tied the knot... but even through marriage some things haven't changed. After car chases and marriage proposals things seem to go smoothly... until an unexpected bump in the road turns up. After a nasty fight and some gun fire, Ana and Christian get their happily ever after.
I have a love/hate relationship with this trilogy. I have read it 7 times (yeah, a little sad but don't judge). I read it through, read it from Ana's point of view, from Christian's point of view, read for the hot sex, read it to really understand the Christian character, read for the love story. Guess that doesn't add up to 7. She's innocent, he's dysfunctional and doesn't know what compromise is. If I were Ana I would have slap him a few times, that is if I didn't just up and leave him. She's SO intelligent but lets him walk all over her and she keeps giving in. No self-esteem? Her mother is annoying. Reading it from the angle of it being a love story is the best. The author...I have thought about rewriting it to correct the grammar, various mistakes and make it more 'American' since it is based in the US. If I were the author, I would have done a rewrite, especially considering all the criticism she has taken for the poor writing. By the way, hated the movie. Don't waste your time or money on it. If you didn't read the books, you will be totally lost watching the movie. Stick with the book. Go for 8 readings!
